If you are a regular follower of the series Parenthood then you must be having a full cognizance of the character of Max Braverman.
Yes, he is a boy with Asperger’s syndrome, and much have been written and talked about his inclusion.
Played by young actor Max Burkholder, the character has drawn the attention of one and all, not just because he has incurable disability, but because he happens to be one of the youngest members of Braverman family.
Show producer, Jason Katims recently revealed some startling facts about the much-talked about character, and also placed his viewpoint about the performance of the aspiring child actor.
Even though the producer hasn’t mentioned it, but it’s actually his son’s suffering from same disability that urged him to vouch for the character of Max Braverman.
And it doesn’t need any soul-searching research to claim that much of the character development is inspired by producer’s own son.
During his interview, Jason admitted that the character was introduced to explore the situations that children with Asperger’s syndrome deal with. And with a show like Parenthood, focus has also been on their upbringing.
Moving to actor Max, he revealed that the young star has been able to achieve the expectation. According to the producer, he (Max) succeeded in portraying the role of a disabled guy with utmost perfection and at the same time managed to inject a sense of appeal in it.
Watch Parenthood and look for those incidents that feature the incredible actor playing a challenging role. You can always search for the griping segments online.
I feel it’s a great step taken by the drama series. Well, don’t take me otherwise because people with Asperger’s syndrome don’t need sympathy, but love. That’s what the series arc involving Max with his family, tells!
Jason Katims may have played his part, by telling the story of the boy with painstaking disability, through his show. But it solely depends on us how we look at things from our end. And what’s our stand in helping them in real life.
